Job Description

Job Purpose:

Provide technical expertise on digital transformation of assets through capturing opportunities for digitalization and automation. This includes identification of required instrumentation for remote monitoring and control of unmanned facilities, telecommunication infrastructure, advanced process control and AI solutions to optimize production, enhance operational efficiency and HSE.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Conduct gap analysis exercise in the company Onshore facilities to identify requirements and opportunities for digitalization and automation in terms of infrastructure, instrumentation, telecommunication and technology solutions
  • Survey the market, identify, review, qualify and support in deploying “fit for purpose” technologies to improve operational performance and practices.
  • Lead the piloting of new technologies in the area of Digital & AI by preparing business case, economic evaluation, scope of work and success criteria
  • Participate in the commissioning and implementation of field trials. Includes monitoring testing activities, evaluating performance and operational results, drafting evaluation reports and recommendations
  • Lead management of change exercise to ensure proper adoption of successful technology pilots including preparation of any documentation for new operating model
  • Provide recommendations for enhancement of the company Onshore’s Digital and AI strategy and update the roadmap for execution
  • Ensure proper integration of any newly introduced digital solution with existing tools and systems for seamless operation

Generic Accountabilities Supervision:

  • Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
  • Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.


  • Provide input for preparation of the Section / Department budgets, assist in the implementation of the approved Budget, and work plans to deliver Section objectives.
  • Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures:

  • Implement approved Section / Department policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the Section’s / Department work programs in line with Company and International standards.

Performance management:

  • Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Section / Department in line with the Company Performance framework.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

  • Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
  • Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.

HSE and Sustainability:

  • Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and the company’s Code of Practices.


  • Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports for Company Management.


Communications & Working Relationships:


  • Frequent contact with Technical Center specialists and managers
  • Frequent contact with Field & terminal Operations
  • Frequent contact with Asset Development


  • Regular contact with technology providers
  • Frequent contact with the company’s Group of Companies and Shareholders.



Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Computing or Telecommunications Engineering

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

Strong experience in instrument and control and telecommunications engineering in the oil and gas industry (preferred to have experience with ADNOC Projects)

Technical Competencies:

  • Thorough knowledge of asset digitalization with fundamental understanding of other aspects of petroleum engineering and operations
  • Good understanding of economics
  • Preparation and deliverance of technical presentations to senior management and steering of internal meetings
  • Proficiency in Technical authorship including reports and detailed technical notes/memos
